Home Bar Designs

Thus is the free home bar designs from Bill B, Cincinnati, OH: "I use the straight bar plan, but soon after I decided to make a bar Also back using kitchen cabinets. Once again the bar the bar needed to move forward A Few feet so I decided to make small corner bar to include one end. In any case the bar is very valuable for planning and building plan my bar, I find the framing, materials lists, and photos is very helpful when i planned .. I build my project a bar in A Few weekends and plan very helpful Pls I 'd go pinch of trying to Decide the size or location for something That my friends love the bar. This is a great gathering place for Some person or party central.

I used maple shelf from the closet to the bar again. The bar itself is made from plywood and solid maple and maple veneers with a bar rail and the copper, and copper including the sink, wine refrigerator and an enclosed barn red wine (which may be converted to a refrigerator barrel at some point). The doors to the storage components were ordered from a company that does the replacement kitchen cabinet doors. In all I spent a fraction of what would have cost to build and could not be happier. "

Interior Design ‘Intention’ Deficit

Many individuals, couples, and families have found themselves battling the syndrome, ‘Interior Design Intention Deficit’, also known as ‘IDID’.  This syndrome is not uncommon and it can create great obstacles for the completion of a rewarding interior design project.  Without defining the intent, establishing priorities, or creating a plan, the project can quickly derail. Take a look at the following questions for a quick, self-test.

orange-focus-ron-brown Have you . . .

. . . ever begun thinking about projects, for one area of your home, then totally switched gears to another space?

. . . fallen in love with every changing color and design style because you thought it was more important to be “trendy” rather than to honor your actual lifestyle and design preferences?

. . . waffled on decisions because you listened to everyone else’s “expert” opinion of how your home should be designed and lacked the confidence to say “No, that’s not for me”?

. . . suffered from “analysis paralysis”, by over-thinking every minutia of detail and ended up not moving forward?

. . . ignored important details which ended up costing you more, in the long run?

. . . stopped the process, before completion, because no project plan was in place, and a realistic expectation of your investment in time and finances had not been established?

mba0028h(Analysis paralysis is one of the identifiable symptoms of IDID.)

If you answered “yes” to any one of the previous questions, you could be heading down the path for “IDID”.

I’m sure, by now, you realize this post is somewhat in jest.  Clinical psychologists haven’t officially named this series of behaviors as a true syndrome, but as an interior designer, (who happens to have her minor in psychology), I believe there deserves to be a “cure”.  A bit of extra focus, (tunnel vision), and some professional help to administer some “tough love”, can go a long way in breaking the cycle of ‘IDID’.

Watch for the solution, coming in my June blog posts:  “One Room At A Time”.

On A “Lighter” Note – Simple Summer Living

While I’m “officially” on hiatus for a few more days, I know many Americans are also “officially” kicking off the summer vacation season, or are planning for all of the fun times which coincide with it.  In order to have more summer fun, it’s best to keep it simple . . . cooking, entertaining, and even our daily routines.  It’s also the time of year when designers look at rooms, laden with heavy textures and colors, and clients are ready to open up their spaces, allow for more movement, and let the sun shine in!  Think of all of the phrases we’ve coined, containing a form of the word, “light”.  (Lighten our load., A lighter spirit., Lighten up., . . . to name a few.)

So . . . . in the spirit of keeping this “light and simple”, I’m sharing some related posts from some other blog and design websites.

grilledporkloin7 Grilled pork tenderloin and a simple salad – from my friend, Amy, of “She Wears Many Hats”.  Click here for her recipe.  (I love that she uses “Yum-Yum” as her food tab!)  Amy is an avid blogger from upstate South Carolina.  We tweet, from time-to-time, and have met in real life at a recent book signing for the Pioneer Woman.

Leave it to the team at Martha Stewart to find simple solutions for outdoor living spaces!  Some cedar decking, placed on squares of wood, then pushed together, create this portable deck area.  Cluster some potted plants and you are done!  I also love the stacked pot fountain.  It’s a quick day project with rewarding results.

Sheers panels, as shown in this room setting from “Traditional Home”, provide an easy and airy solution for spur of the moment window treatments.  Later on, you can always layer side panels.  Some great blog reads, regarding window treatments and design, are:  terri’sfabrics.co.uk and Jackie Von Tobel Home

Or . . . Is your home the arrival destination?  Quick ship bedding from Eastern Accents, (and a shameless plug, here), available through my design firm, can upgrade a plain Jane, (or John), room from economy class to a luxury suite, in a short order of time.

Hammock-748808 Of course, this is a great simple solution, too!

Have a safe and special Memorial Weekend.  Please take a moment to honor those who have served us well.

Home Bar Designs From Steve K, Halifax, MA

Home Bar DesignsFree home bar designs

Thus was the idea home bar designs from Steve K, Halifax, MA: My boyfriend and I use the bars you plan as a guide. We have our own dimension to deal with a tool rather than a Bible. We use a 2x3 for the frame with drywall screws recommended.

We plan dimensions of the framework to be able to match the kegerator, sink, small refrigerator and a lot of desk space. We side bar with 3 / 4 "birch and used molds from Home Depot that we are mitered and assembled with a small tack nails and glue. The counter top is built with 3 / 4" MDFB and formica on it. above was constructed by primarily the same way as bar plans unless we used oak hardwood floors to the top of the plywood.

We chose hardwood floors because we plan to put our own hard wood floor in our living room, so this is a good chance to get some experience (and will not be the end of the world if we mess it up). I should have through the spill, so we built that just like your plan and it really adds a touch of class to the bar and gives a realistic view bar.

We do not use a router for rounding every corner. We both used dowels and sanded them to intervene (as in a birch veneer on the side) or we use prints like the bar through the spill. We want to use the molds Chicago Rail to arm rests instead of brass tubing, but also too expensive, so we mixed the two pieces of molding to make the outside crept across the top.

We bought a lot of brackets used brass foot rail and zinc coated steel pipeline to the foot rail. channel only cost us about $ 13.00 overall, compared with about $ 200 or $ 300 for the brass and I think it looks neat.

We salute the top with seven layers of polyurethane and three layers on the side. We use this new Minwax polyurethane from Home Depot that dries quickly and does not require sanding for the next layer is applied within 12 hours. It works very well for us because we do not have to sand after each coat. Bar your plan is an integral part of the settlement bar. This bar is the first thing we ever built.

Here's a home bar design ideas of the interview of a person: I use a hardwood floor to the top with five bars of poly coat. I was lucky enough to have room for all the comforts including dishwasher, microwave convection, kegerator, TV, sink, wine refrigerator, dorm refrigerator and disposal and a small wine rack. Everything went very smoothly and your plan makes it so much easier to plan and build. Continue the good work and keep your customers own the building I was saved. approximately $ 15,000 to do it yourself.

A staircase connects the outside by the pool deck to the deck above. An indoor staircase to form a daily circulation of the house. Near the main circulation, in the porch of a house, a panel designed specifically Bulcão Athos and that, perhaps, the last project. A Working Vacation

My friends all know one of my favorite escapes is to head to the North Carolina mountains.  There are many other beautiful hillside locations, in the US, but I’m so fortunate to be able to make the NC trip in a matter of a few hours, while not spending an entire day in travel mode.  It’s just a few twists and turns and I’m there!

The other aspect I love, other than the different ridges and national forests, is the variety of people who have “settled in” or who vacation there.  Going to Bryson City/Nantahala area?  Plan on some whitewater rafting, rustic surroundings, and some earthy types.  If you like Highlands and Cashiers, chances are you’ll be arriving via the Atlanta area, where on occasion, you might spot a few celebrities who are treated with the utmost sense of discretion.  The Asheville area seems to be for those who might be more interested in a permanent residence and specific lifestyle.  It’s a progressive little city with a “boho-chic” vibe.  And last, but not least, it seems many of us, from the Charlotte-Metro area, have an affinity for West Jefferson and Blowing Rock.  It fits the bill for that short drive to a beautiful mountain retreat; although, you will also see an abundance of Florida tags, too!

69232_0(I wonder how many crafty trout might be hiding under these rocks?)

In a very short while, my husband and I, along with our two dachshunds, will be making our way to a quaint cabin in West Jefferson.  It has the perfect blending of amenities . . . private access to the New River, a short drive into town for galleries, dining, provisions, and comfy bedding for a good rest.  Also included will be a large front porch, perfect for rocking and reading, Starbuck’s coffee beans, and a well-equipped kitchen . . .  should my husband actually catch some trout!  (This is not to disparage his fishing skills.  Rainy weather doesn’t bode well for great catches.)

(Fall is not the only special season for visiting the NC mountains.  Summer also offers its blaze of color.)

I will be interrupting some of this “R & R” as I’ll be making a side trip to the town of Blowing Rock.  A client is building a three story home on the side of the mountain.  (Did I ever tell you how much I’m afraid of heights?  I’ll be standing in the middle of rough framing, looking over the edge, with weak knees!)  Nevertheless, Blowing Rock is a charming composite of mountain cottages, chalets, cabins, lodges, and some magnificent views over the Blue Ridge mountain range.  I love the idea of having such a selection of abodes.  Whether you want to walk straight out to the village street, have a bit of acreage for bovines or equine interests, or want to catch your breath from a view down a mountainside, there is something for every desire and even budget.

Here are some photos of property listings for the area:

83304_1

 81758_0(Just gorgeous!)

And if you are wondering about the town’s name, here is a little bit of folklore:

“Before 1752, when Moravian Bishop August Gottlieb Spangenberg visited the Blowing Rock area, the windy cliffs of the area were home to the Cherokee and the Catawba Indian tribes, hostile to each other, and the basis for the story of “The “Blowing Rock”. Two star-crossed lovers, one from each tribe, were walking near The Rock when the reddening sky signaled to the brave that he must return to his tribal duty, and the maiden urged him to stay with her. His desperation in choosing between duty and love caused him to leap from the edge of the gorge toward the rocks below, while the maiden beseeched the Great Spirit to bring him back to her. The famous winds of the John’s River Gorge blew her lover back into her arms, and this legend about The Blowing Rock is still told today.”  From this site:  Blowing Rock
